Dylan's Deer Hunt

Dylan's Ginormous Buck
JUST KIDDING

This is his actual buck. He called and said he had shot a 4X5. This was not what I was expecting. There were actually 4X5 points on the deer. They were just REALLY short points. I was so proud of him though. He loves to hunt and loves to shoot. He is a good shot like his daddy.Way to GO DYLANDevin had to tiptoe in so that he didn't get blood on his school shoes, but he wanted his picture taken by the deer. (or maybe I wanted to take it there)

Dean is probably the best dad I have ever seen. He teaches these boys things that are worth learning. They know how to gut and skin a deer. They know how to clean it up afterwards. They know how to hunt and shoot

Dean's Productive Bow Elk Hunt

Dean did the bow hunt this year and had a great time. Obviously! He got a nice 5X5 elk. He called and needed help getting it out, so Devin and I hiked up with Dean to the elk. Wow, am I out of shape. It was a 2 hour hike straight up (I SWEAR). Devin was bouncing around and I was dying. We finally got to the elk and then the fun started. We had to cut the elk up and pack it out in backpacks. I'm pretty sure mine weighed about 100 lbs. Dean had to stand me up after I got it on. Dean's weighed about double mine, but he's a little stronger. Devin was just along for the fun.

Stupid Cows

I have never thought that cows were smart but seriously, this poor thing is covered in cockle burrs. It was so funny. Maybe you had to be there.

Yummy Shrimp Dinner

Oh this was so good. I had to take a picture of it. I have made it a few times and I love it. We had corn from my very own garden with it this time. There's pasta under the shrimp, but Dakoda and I love lots of shrimp on top.
For you Christie....
Shrimp Orzo Skillet
8 oz. large uncooked shrimp
1 TBL oil
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp sugar
8 oz. orzo pasta (I found it at Smith's)
1 garlic clove, pressed
2 Cups chicken broth
1 Cup clam juice
1 lemon
1 TBL fresh mint (I've never used this, I use fresh parsley instead)
1 Cup frozen peas
1 TBL butter
peel and devein shrimp. Add oil to skillet. Heat skillet. Combine salt, pepper and sugar in bowl. Add shrimp, toss to coat.
Arrange shrimp in single layer in skillet and cook about 1 minute or until on side is browned and edges are pink. Remove skillet from heat and turn shrimp. Let stand 1 minute. Remove shrimp, set aside.
For orzo, in same skillet, combine orzo, garlic, broth and clam juice. Bring to boil. Cover and reduce heat. Cook 10-12 minutes until orzo is cooked through.
As orzo cooks, zest lemon to measure 1 TBL zest. juice lemon to measure t TBL. Thinly slice mint (or parsley).
Remove skillet from heat and stir in peas, butter and lemon juice. Arrange shrimp over orzo. Cover skillet and let stand 3-5 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with lemon zest and mint before serving.
This recipe is out of pampered chef's 29 minute meals.

Don't Run in the Forest

Dylan was running and playing while we were camping and then the fun was over. A stick went in is eye. I thought it had just hit his eyelid, but the eye doctor (that I happen to work for) said that the stick actually hit his eye and scratched it pretty good. Poor Kid.

Homecoming at AHS

These pictures are from the Homecoming game at AHS. They rocked the field. We ended up winning 55 - 14. Way to go Dakoda.

Football Rules at the Lindsay's

Dakoda is rocking the field with AHS this year. He is number 3.

Dylan is our QB... that's Quarter Back for those of you like me. He is number 8.
Just so you know... Dylan made a touchdown with this kick off return.
Devin is still a squirt. He is number 3 and does a little ball packing and some other things I'm not sure of. He is fun to watch.

If we are not playing football, we are watching it on TV. Who knew there were so many channels with football on? I am actually learning a lot. I still wish that ball was bright pink or orange so that I could find it when they are running with it. I am cheering half the time and the ball is on the ground. Not Good. There is nothing quite like Friday Night Lights in Altamont. Love IT! not the cold though.
